Project Highlights

Dollar Tree opened its 25th Distribution Center (DC) in 2020 in the City of Rosenberg in Fort Bend County.  The project proceeded during the challenges of COVID-19 and opened on time.  The new facility committed significant capital investment, putting approximately 1 million square feet of warehouse and distribution space on the ground.  The new DC houses high-tech equipment to create efficiencies and enhance safety for their over 500 employees. The large complex sits on 191 acres, complete with 113 dock doors, 39 shipping lanes and 5 miles of conveyors inside the complex.  The Rosenberg distribution center will support retail outlets across Texas and into Mississippi and Louisiana.

The City of Rosenberg invested dollars to extend utilities to the new complex, adding utility connections down Interstate 69 to spur future development. The City of Rosenberg and Fort Bend County incentivized this project, adding 500 jobs to the region and significant value to the property tax rolls.

Why They Chose Fort Bend County

Dollar Tree hired nearly 500 employees for the Rosenberg DC during a global pandemic. Using virtual technology to access the local labor pool, 70 percent of the new jobs were from the Rosenberg area.  Jason Nicholson, General Manager of the Rosenberg facility, said the access to labor and infrastructure was a significant factor in why they chose Fort Bend County for this project.

pullquote
Our employees are a critical part of Dollar Tree’s success.  It was important we have access to a wide labor pool, and Fort Bend County and the City of Rosenberg supplied that.  We have been impressed with the depth and quality of the area workforce.  We also need quick and reliable access to markets, and this location provides both.  We are excited to be in Rosenberg and Fort Bend.
