Fort Bend County is a gateway to markets across the nation and around the globe. Fort Bend County benefits from two ports in close proximity. Port Freeport is a leading port in the export of crude oil and natural gas liquids and ranked 6th in chemicals, 17th in foreign waterborne tonnage, and 26th in containers. 25 miles from the heart of Fort Bend County, Port of Houston is Texas’ largest port, ranked first in the US in foreign waterborne tonnage, 1st in US imports, 1st in US export tonnage, and 2nd in the US in total tonnage.

Within the county, the Sugar Land Municipal Airport provides on-site US Customs services to accommodate both regional and international corporate executives, while just 25 miles away, George Bush Intercontinental Airport ranks 5th among US airports. Additionally, the William P. Hobby Airport serves millions of passengers each year, now offering both domestic and international flights.

Another huge benefit to the county is its three rail lines, Kansas City Southern (KSC), Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF), and Union Pacific (UP) run throughout the county. The rail lines currently run parallel to both developed and undeveloped land, offering opportunities for rail services to businesses who need land to build as well as those who seek access to business parks and other developed property.

A variety of logistics and supply chain companies have already found their home in Fort Bend County, including a robotic fulfillment Amazon facility in Richmond and a bulk fulfillment Amazon warehouse in Missouri city. Dollar Tree and Aldi both cited access to markets as a reason they chose to be in Fort Bend.
